Our bodies are made up of more than 50 percent water so it does make sense that we need to drink plenty of it. We need water for digestion, circulation, absorption and for transportation of nutrients. Everyone knows that we should drink more water but sometimes all we want is just a bit more flavor, but without the added sugar.

Today we offer three recipes that will increase your water intake with more flavor and added nutrients.

Pineapple and Fennel Digestive Water

Pineapple is rich in the enzyme called bromelain that has powerful anti-inflammatory properties. Bromelain helps the body heal faster and at the same time reduces pains and aches. When you add fennel it offers a refreshing anise taste and is beneficial for calming your digestive system. A study conducted in 2010 discovered that daily consumption of pineapple juice lowers the inflammation in mice’s colons. Other study discovered that only 200ml of pineapple juice a day can improve symptoms of asthma and help people lose weight.

You’ll need:

  • 8 cups of hot water
  • Half a cup of chopped pineapple
  • A teaspoon of fennel seeds


Wash the pineapple and slice the skin.
Put the pieces of pineapple a container and add the eight glasses of hot water.
When it cools down, add the fennel seeds and let the mixture soak during the night.
Strain the seeds, or better yet, chew them for extra benefits.

Lemon, mint and cucumber water rich in vitamin C

These three amazing ingredients are very rich in vitamin C and antioxidants. Cucumber contains various minerals and vitamins. The minerals are mainly found in the peel and its flesh contains vitamin C as well as caffeic acid that has the ability to reduce inflammation.

Lemon gives an additional boost of vitamin C but it also contains lemonin and flavonoids which not only strengthen the cells but also are great for detox. Mint adds great taste and contains the powerful antioxidant – monoterpene. When you combine these 3 ingredients you get a Mix these ingredients together and you will get an amazing punch rich in vitamin C.


Put eight glasses of water, 2 sliced lemons and half cucumber cut in slices in a container. Add a bit of mint and put it in the refrigerator to stay overnight. The next morning you can enjoy in this super healthy beverage!

Lemon, cherry and cinnamon water for better sleep

Cherries are rich in melatonin that promote healthy sleep. The type known as tart cherry is richer in melatonin and can offer you a good night’s sleep! Cherries are also rich in anthrocyanins which have strong inflammatory properties and protect the heart. Cinnamon is a great ingredient for regulating the blood sugar. Lemons add more vitamin C and make it a perfect antioxidant drink.


In a glass of warm water add half a cup of pitted cherries, two slices of lemon and a bit of cinnamon and let the mixture soak. Consume before going to bed for a good night’s sleep.
