A lot of people take color vision tests, which help to decide whether they have lack of color vision or not. This is a condition which in most cases is inherited. In case you have problems with color vision, the ability to see the difference among certain colors will be reduced.

People who have color vision deficiency are not aware that they have it! In most cases they discover this in real-life situations, such as when they are stuck in traffic etc. Those who are affected by this do not know the colors that are showing and those who are affected by lack of color vision deficiency see:

• Many shades of green and red

• Many shades of yellow and blue

Even though a lot of people equate lack of color vision with color blindness, you should know that those who suffer from color blindness actually only see many shades of white and black —and this is a rare case. However, we present you how to determine if you have lack of color vision or not.

Type of Color Blindness

Lack of color vision affects around 0.5% of women and 8% of men. There are 4 types of color blindness and in these pictures you can see how each of them looks like.

Deuteranomalia

Around 4.63% of men suffer from this color blindness type and they do not even know this. This is the most common type and colors, mostly green and red, actually seem faded or they lack their natural brightness.

Protanopia

This is less common type and affects 1% of men. The contrast is big as the green and red lack brightness, but the other colors: blue and yellow will be the same.

Tritanopia

It is a type of color blindness which affects women and men equally, yet it is at very minimal levels. Those who have this type of color blindness see tones of green and pink.
